We have another wild beer tasting! This time it’s Tasmania’s esteemed Two Metre Tall with new batches of some of the ol’ familiar and a few other special releases. This will be a great tasting to catch up with some of Ashley and Jane’s signature brews. The beauty of these beers is in their honesty. That is the couple’s honesty to their estate, where most of the raw materials for their brews come from. Ash and Jane utilise as many of the resources around them as possible, including the pristine waters of the Derwent River that runs through their property, to try to express a sense of place in everything they create.
Particularly important to this expression is the use of indigenous wild yeasts that occur in the paddocks around them as well as within their brewery. These are a major contributing factor in the uniqueness of each of their brews, year to year, season to season, batch to batch. Rather than relying on the homogeny and predictability, they celebrate the diversity and difference that brewing with wild yeasts offers. The results are ales and ciders that are unique to Two Metre Tall. This is beer with terroir, and we are excited to be sharing it with you.
