Stomping Ground is so fresh and brand new they haven’t even opened the doors of their brewery to the public as yet. However, they’ve been toiling away in their shiny new Brew House, pumping out some excellent brews. To celebrate their arrival this far north, there will be Stomping Ground Tap Takeovers happening at Craft over the coming weeks.
Now pouring on Tap 1 is the excellent Gipps Street Pale Ale. It’s the best Pale Ale we’ve tasted in a very long time! This little beauty is a hugely aromatic, hop forward & full flavoured brew with a firm bitter finish. It does not disappoint.
On Tap 2 there is Stomping Ground’s and Stone & Woods’ collaboration brew Rauchbier. Now we know Smoked Beers aren’t everyone’s glass of beer. However this is little number is an outstanding New World interpretation of a unique Old World style. Think smoke, bacon, ham hock, hints of maple all of the good stuff. Every time we have a sip or a sniff of this guy it just makes us want to eat Bacon Sangers. If you haven’t tried it, you’ll want to get in quick if you want to get your hands on some of this delicious drop.
We’ll be finishing up the Stomping Ground Tap Takeover with a bang. We will be tapping their GABS beer. Stomping Ground’s Piquant Beere Weisse is their interpretation of the Berliner Weisse style. Made with Tasmanian grown Black Currants, it’s a deep shade of purple, fruity, tart, sour and dangerously drinkable. We tried it at GABS and went back for seconds, thirds & fourths. As is common with the Berliner Weisse style it clocks in at the very user friendly 3.2% ABV. If you’re not familiar with sour beer styles, Berliner Weisse is the most approachable. This brew is no exception and the perfect way to introduce yourself to the sour side.
